RAISING A RED FLAG

I live in the rural south of Ottawa and have mail delivered to a mailbox at the end of my driveway.

Whenever mail is delivered, the postman raises a plastic marker indicating that mail has been delivered. This has been the case for decades.

The other day, I received a letter indicating that the postman will no longer raise the indicator flag that mail has been delivered.

At a time when the postal service is struggling to survive and its employees are looking for salary increases, they decide to offer less for more. They have made themselves even more irrelevant, more unnecessary.

Good planning, Canada Post!

Time to mothball the whole corporation and leave it to the private sector. Unbelievable!

EVs? SERIOUSLY?

I’ll start by saying that mandating EVs is, in my mind, totally unnecessary. Canadians continue to be vilified and punished for the scant 1.4 per cent of global carbon emissions we produce.

In case the Liberals need to be reminded, Canada is a democracy and Canadians are allowed to have choice.

We aren’t buying these vehicles for many reasons. They are expensive and have limited range (less in the winter), and who wants to spend hours charging them when we have things to do?

Need to replace the battery? Expect to fork out half the price of a gas-powered car to do that. Where do those spent batteries go and what about the mining done to access the lithium? What toxins are spewed if they catch on fire? Not very environmentally friendly, if you ask me.

The government has no right trying to force people to buy them. For those who want them, be my guest, but leave the rest of us the right to buy what we want. Isn’t that how a democracy works?

THINK IT THROUGH, MARK

So Mark Carney supports the idea of an independent Palestinian state. I’m curious as to how much thought he put into this statement. His government officially identifies Hamas as a terrorist organization. Who does he think would run this new independent state? Hamas is still supported by the majority of Palestinian people. In reality, Carney has announced his support for the terrorist organization Hamas. So Canada now supports terrorism?
