Ottawa police say a youth faces a long list of drug- and firearm-related offences following a traffic stop early Thursday.

In a news release, the Ottawa Police Service said West Neighbourhood Resource Team officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Carling Avenue just after midnight.

While talking with the person, officers spotted drug paraphernalia and a white substance inside the vehicle.

Then, as the person was being arrested, officers found a loaded firearm and additional drugs on the individual.

A search of the vehicle turned up more drugs and a quantity of currency.

The youth has been charged with 10 drug- and firearm-related offences.
