Three loaded firearms were seized and numerous firearm-related charges were laid during three separate traffic stops in less than 24 hours in Mississauga over the weekend.

Peel Regional Police say officers from the Strategic Tactical Enforcement Policing (S.T.E.P.) were patrolling on Saturday in the area of Central Parkway and Confederation Parkway when they stopped a vehicle and located a loaded SIG P365 firearm with ammunition.
Ibrahim Al-Ahmad, 23, of Windsor, is charged with five firearm offences and two of fail to comply with release order.
At the time of his arrest, Al-Ahmad was on conditions to remain in his residence.
A short time later, S.T.E.P. officers were patrolling the Central Parkway and Mavis Road area when a stop located a loaded Glock 43X handgun with ammunition.
As a result, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old were each charged with six firearm offences and one of fail to properly wear seatbelt.

On Sunday, S.T.E.P. officers in the area of Shawson and Atlantic Drs. located a loaded Glock 19 handgun.
Michael Riggio, 32, of Mississauga, was charged with 11 firearm offences including two of possession of firearm contrary to order.
“The S.T.E.P. team’s exceptional work has once again demonstrated their unwavering commitment to keeping our communities safe,” Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah said in a statement.
“With multiple arrests, seized firearms, and numerous charges laid, the dangers posed by illegal firearms are clear. These incidents also highlight the urgent need for bail reform to prevent repeat offences and ensure lasting consequences for those who threaten public safety.”
