The self-appointed voices of Canadian public opinion figure these Albertans wanting the province out of Canada speak for no one but a noisy and tiny sliver of the population.

Many of those doing the chattering also think these folks are actually unhinged.

Jeff Rath of the Alberta Prosperity Project is working hard for Alberta independence and says what he lacks in subtlety he makes up for in sincerity.

Rath, frankly, couldn’t care less what they say. He says they are not in touch with regular Albertans.

“We don’t give a rip about the opinions of federalists from Ontario or wannabe federalists like Jason Kenney in the province of Alberta.”

Kenney, the former Alberta premier who thought he was popular in the party he led, slimed detractors as inmates trying to take over the asylum and was forced out as leader.

“The fight on X between Jason Kenney and Theo Fleury was good for another 20,000,” laughs Rath.

The 20,000 number Rath is talking about is 20,000 individuals willing to sign a petition so Albertans can have a referendum vote on Alberta independence.

By provincial law, they need 177,000 Albertans willing to sign up for a vote to go ahead and Rath says they’ve already passed that number.

On Monday morning, there will be a press conference in Calgary to discuss the referendum campaign and what the question on the independence referendum ballot will be.
