“Farmers’ Protest Escalates as Over 200 Unions March to Delhi: Talks with Government Remain Inconclusive”

The farmers’ strike will intensify today as more than 200 organizations march to Delhi after last-minute talks with the government failed. Ahead of the planned ‘Delhi Chalo’ protest movement, traffic was disrupted in the country, especially at the Delhi-Gurgaon border, due to border crossing restrictions. The video published by news agencies showed the traffic restrictions that led to the accident.

A multi-layered roadblock has been set up at the Singhu, Ghazipur and Shambhu border to prevent farmers from entering Delhi. Northeast Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankit Singh confirmed the implementation of Section 144 and emphasized that strict measures should be taken to seal the border to avoid any untoward incident.

Dissatisfaction shown with government’s response Agriculture minister Sarwan Singh Pandher announced a trip to Delhi at 10 am on their request. Although Union Ministers Arjun Munda and Piyush Goyal held talks recently, no agreement was reached on all issues. Munda acknowledged the need for dialogue but reiterated his commitment to meeting farmers’ demands.

Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha jointly announced the formation of more than 200 farmers’ unions in Delhi, rising towards Delhi. The government should address their concerns. Although the government has ordered the formation of a committee to resolve the remaining issues, farmers are protesting over the resolution of their grievances.
