Six people were hospitalized after a fire broke out in a residence in the Kenwood neighborhood early Sunday morning, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
The fire department responded to the incident at 1218 East 46th Street around 4:03 a.m. Officials said that the fire was on a second and third floor duplex rear unit, with one resident jumping from a window after he saw smoke in the building. Six people were transported to the hospital, five of whom were critically injured.
