Five men lifted after man lured to Dublin house, held captive and tortured as Garda probe underway

A MAJOR Garda probe is under way after a man was held captive and tortured on Thursday, the Irish Sun can reveal.

Investigators suspect the man was lured to a house in west Dublin on Thursday before he was beaten with baseball bats.

Following the attack, Gardai swooped on a number of properties in west Dublin this morning.

Five men – aged in their 20s and one in his 40s – were arrested.

A house has also been sealed off for examination.

Over 100 Gardai were involved in this morning’s searches.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Amajor search and arrest operation is being carried out in west Dublin, this morning, Saturday 15th February 2025, targeting an organised crime group operating in the area.

“A number of residential properties in the Dublin 15 area have been entered under warrant and are currently being searched.”Five males (four aged in their 20s, one in his 40s) have been arrested and are currently detained at Garda Stations in west Dublin under section 72 Criminal Justice Act, 2006 for the investigation of alleged offences contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997.

One source said: “This was an extremely barbaric attack and the victim has suffered very serious injuries.

“The suspicion is that he was lured to a house before being subjected to various forms of physical violence.”

Officers from the Armed Support Unit and the Emergency Response Unit were also involved in today’s raids.

Officers from Blanchardstown Garda station, the Dublin Crime Response Team, the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Garda Dog Unit, the the Garda National Technical Bureau and local divisional search teams and scenes of crimes units were also involved.

Gardai believe those behind the attack are a crime gang known for using extreme levels of violence and involved in drug intimidation.

This comes as a murder probe is underway after a man was stabbed in the centre of Dublin this morning.

It’s understood he was attacked in the St Anne Street area during a clash between two groups of individuals

A second man was also injured but his injuries aren’t life threatening.

Gardai have sealed off the street and are examining the area.

Gardai confirmed the investigation had been launched.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Gardai responded to a serious public order incident on South Anne Street in the early hours of this morning.

“A man who was injured during the incident was taken by ambulance to St James’ Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

“The scene is currently being held for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
