After human remains were found inside a burnt car west of Dawson Creek, B.C. – RCMP E Division Serious Crime unit has taken over control of investigation.

“All indications suggest that this is a homicide, and police look to the public to help further the investigation. We are looking to speak to anyone that may have knowledge of this incident, or that had seen a grey 2005 Mazda 6,” said Supt. Sanjaya Wijayakoon of the B.C. RCMP in a statement.

“If you were in the area of 251 Road and Kiskatinaw River near Dawson Creek in the days leading up to and including Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, and saw this vehicle, you are asked to call the police.”
Police are looking to the public who may have been in the area, have game cameras set nearby, or saw dark smoke recently in the area.
Initially on Oct. 13, Dawson Creek RCMP responded to a report of a burnt-out vehicle – a silver 2005 Mazda 6, with possible Alberta plates. “We are looking to speak to anyone that saw smoke in the days leading up to Oct. 13 in the area of 251 Road and Kiskatinaw River area near Dawson Creek,” said Cpl. Madonna Saunderson, district advisory NCO (Media Relations) B.C. RCMP north district, in a statement.

Reports indicate the location of the burnt car was found in a similar area to remains recovered of Rene Didier, found on May 18 of last year, after being reported missing to RCMP in early December 2023. Didier, who also went by Supernant, was last seen on Dawson Creek gas station surveillance camera footage from Dec. 3, 2023.
Another Indigenous woman related to Didier, Darylyn Supernant, was reported missing in March 2023. Supernant’s remains were found April 19, 2024, on the 219 Road near Dawson Creek.
In Aug. 2023, a 24-year-old man, Dave Daniel Domingo, disappeared north of Dawson Creek near Rolla, and Cole Hosack was last seen on New Year’s eve December 2023 outside the Lonestar Nightclub in Dawson Creek. Authorities looked for security camera footage to trace Hosack’s last steps through downtown Dawson Creek on New Year’s Eve, and into the new year morning.
RCMP earlier this year confirmed the death of Emily Ogden was being treated as a homicide, and a suspicious death investigation launched by the E Division major crime section. The 24-year-old’s body was found on Apr.14 after being reported missing Mar. 29 of this year.
