Canadian voters will be electing a federal government in April. Here are some important dates and timelines to know about the 2025 Canada federal election, including voting deadlines and campaign milestones.

Canada’s federal election day will take place on Monday, April 28, 2025.

The deadline for parties to nominate candidates or for independent candidates to put their names forward is April 7 at 2 p.m.

You can register in advance online until April 22 at 6 p.m. After that, you’ll have to register on arrival when you go to vote or in person at an Elections Canada office.

Registering in advance will streamline the process when you visit a voting station.

Advance voting will take place from April 18 to 21, during a Friday-to-Monday period. Advance voting stations will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

You’ll be able to vote in advance at your assigned polling station or at an Elections Canada office. A list of available Elections Canada offices will be available online shortly. We’ll update this page when that information is posted.

Those wanting to vote in person on election day can do so on April 28.

All voting stations will be open for 12 hours on election day but hours will vary by time zone.

Voting for the 2025 federal election is expected to end at 9 p.m. on April 28.

Elections Canada has not yet confirmed when final results will be available, though preliminary results are generally available the same evening.
