Although my family landed in Canada in 1842, our heritage dates all the way back to ninth-century Ireland. Over those centuries, Irish folklore and fantasy storytelling found itself brethren to outright blarney at times. I am reminded of this when I hear the Irish citizen, Mark “Blarney” Carney, eloquently navigating around the truth, telling bedtime stories, searching for yet another pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, with the promise of many more “sunny ways.” Canadians are anxiously awaiting for his announcement that the Liberal party has plans to replace all fossil-fuel energy with carbon-free pixie dust and the guarantee of a unicorn for every backyard. Carefree dreaming is always magical when someone else has to pay for the pillow.

THOMAS CASSIDY

(‘Someone else’s money’ certainly goes a long way with some politicians)

Keep Trump out of Canada

Why is Donald Trump allowed in Canada to attend the G7 meeting? He is a felon and Canada doesn’t allow felons to enter Canada. If he should attend the 2025 G7 meeting, don’t be surprised if he bullies, manipulates or even threatens those in attendance. Keep him out of Canada — please.

One step at a time

The RCMP stated they have opened an investigation into procurement practices at Alberta Health Services, saying “The RCMP acknowledges that both the public and the media have a strong interest in this investigation.” Hasn’t a third-party judge been solicited to oversee this already? Shouldn’t we see what he has to say first? Where was all this zealous police work during the SNC Lavalin affair or the tens of millions missing due to the AriveCan fiasco or the WE Charity scandal? What about when Brenda Lucki collaborated directly with the PMO to promote gun confiscation? The public and media have a really strong interest in knowing about these “investigations” as well. All Liberal acts but no one is held responsible for anything.

GREGG GUSTAFSON

(We await the results of both investigations)

So long, Justin

I can’t believe that Justin Trudeau would say that it’s been the honour of his life to serve Canada. The man for nine years has served himself with no regard to the damage he’s done to our great country. This goes to show that his narcissistic ego has no bounds. Scandal after scandal through the government and not once has he ever taken responsibility for any of it. His legacy should be remembered as the worst prime minister in history.

SYLVIA SAUNDERS

(He’s almost gone and good riddance)
