Man shot in the face in Auburn Gresham on city’s South Side, police say​on July 3, 2025 at 10:33 pm

A young man was critically wounded Thursday afternoon after he was shot in the face in the city’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

A gunman opened fire and wounded the 34-year-old man just before 3 p.m.on the street in the 7800 block of South May Street, Chicago police said. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, authorities said.

No arrests had been made as Calumet area detectives were investigating.

A young man was critically wounded Thursday afternoon after he was shot in the face in the city’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

A gunman opened fire and wounded the 34-year-old man just before 3 p.m.on the street in the 7800 block of South May Street, Chicago police said. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, authorities said.

No arrests had been made as Calumet area detectives were investigating.
