The Dallas City Council will get some new faces with three open seats. Omar Narvaez in District 6, representing west and northwest Dallas, is term-limited, as is Tennell Atkins, representing District 8 in southern Dallas, and Carolyn King Arnold in District 4, which includes the East Oak Cliff area in southern Dallas, was also deemed ineligible to run because of term limits.
Jaynie Schultz opted not to run again in District 11, representing Far North Dallas.
The new city council will come in as newly-minted Dallas City Manager Kimberly Bizor Tolbert is hiring for key roles, including the next Dallas Police Chief and Dallas Fire-Rescue Chief, and overseeing key initiatives, like preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the rebuild of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, among other projects.
A total of about 50 people are running for Dallas City Council. For a full list of candidates, click here.
