SOUTHLAKE, Texas — An elementary school in Southlake was evacuated Friday “as a precaution” after an anonymous bomb threat, officials say. The Southlake Department of Public Safety said they haven’t located any device.
Carroll ISD’s Old Union Elementary School in the 1000 block of S. Carroll Avenue was evacuated as police and firefighters investigate, officials say.
Students were transported by bus to the Carroll ISD administration building at 2400 N. Carroll Avenue with reunification protocols underway Friday afternoon, according to officials.
Carroll ISD says all other district campuses, including the administration building, were also briefly placed in a “secure” status as a precaution, meaning everyone remains in the building with exterior doors locked, but school activities continue. The ‘secure’ status for all other CISD campuses was lifted by shortly after noon, officials say.
“The SECURE has been lifted from our CISD campuses, while Old Union Elementary Reunification protocols are currently underway. All other campus operations and schedules will continue as normal. Our OUES families have been contacted directly with further details. Thank you to the Southlake Police Department for their swift response, thorough investigation, and ongoing partnership in keeping our Dragons safe,” Carroll ISD said in a statement.
In a news release, Southlake DPS said officers responded to Old Union around 10:30 a.m. to the reported bomb threat, and shortly after, another call came in reporting shots fired at the same school.
A school resource officer at Old Union, alongside responding officers, scoured the campus for active threats; however, ultimately, none were found, according to Southlake DPS.
This is a developing story. We’ll update this story as additional information becomes available.
