Police and officials at the Calgary International Airport on Wednesday afternoon were dealing with a security incident at the city’s air hub.

Details on the situation were limited but the Calgary Airport Authority said nobody was in imminent danger amid a large police presence.

“The Calgary Airport Authority can confirm an ongoing security incident at YYC Calgary International Airport. While the risk remains low, we are taking all necessary security precautions to ensure everyone’s safety,” the authority said in an email.

“No passengers are in the affected area, and we appreciate their patience as we complete the necessary security checks.”

They said impacts to travellers at the airport were minimal but that officials were taking the situation seriously.
