DALLAS — A shooting suspect reportedly walked out of a Dallas Police Department interview room and went missing for several hours overnight, Dallas police sources told WFAA on Monday morning.
The suspect was in an interview room at Dallas police headquarters when three officers allegedly left the suspect in the room unattended with the door unlocked, according to police sources. Officers are instructed not to leave the door to an interview room unattended.
The man allegedly shot his neighbor Sunday night near the 3200 block of Fort Bend Drive in southern Dallas, sources said. Police have not released any official information on the shooting.
Two officers at the front desk claimed no one had left the building, sources said. However, surveillance video reviewed by officers 2.5 hours after the suspect went missing shows the suspect walking out the front door, police sources said.
Sources said that volunteers from all divisions were asked to report to headquarters to search for the suspect. The suspect was found around 4 a.m., police sources said.
