TARRANT COUNTY, Texas — The southbound toll road on I-35W was shut down Friday night following a crash involving several motorcycles, officials say.

According to the Fort Worth Fire Department, the crash involved about 15 motorcycles, several of which were on fire at some point. FWFD said the accident was near the Chuck E. Cheese in the Presidio Shopping Center.

TxDOT camera footage in the area of Heritage Trace Parkway showed a major traffic backup as numerous emergency vehicles responded to the scene.

According to Fort Worth FD’s Kyle Clay, a motorcyclist at the front of a group of other motorcyclists blew a tire, and due to their close distance behind, they were unable to avoid a collision, creating a domino effect.

Clay said four were critically injured, seven were severely injured, and others were labeled as “walking wounded.” The Fort Worth Fire Department provided an update Saturday, saying that a total of 17 people were injured, 14 of whom were taken to the hospital.

This is a developing story. WFAA will update this article with the latest information.
