One person was killed and another was critically injured early Tuesday morning in a shooting that occurred outside a strip club in northwest Miami-Dade, authorities confirmed.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the parking lot of Club Climaxx, located at 12001 NW 27th Ave., at about 2:11 a.m. after receiving reports about a shooting.
Deputies said they arrived and found two men who had been shot.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel pronounced one of the men dead at the scene. The other person was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.
“The preliminary information indicates the decedent provoked a physical altercation with the victim, and there was an exchange of gunfire,” an MDSO spokesperson said in an email to Local 10 News. “The victim is out of surgery and in stable condition.”
An employee at a nearby business named John told Local 10 News that this isn’t the first time the adult entertainment club has turned into a crime scene.
“Last time, maybe about half a year ago or so,” he said. “It’s getting berserk back here and it’s getting too wild. You know, we need to get the guns off the streets and get people together, you know what I mean?”
The MDSO Homicide Bureau has assumed the investigation into Tuesday’s shooting.
After the shooting, investigators zeroed in on a black Nissan Altima that had its window blown out and windshield wipers still running.
No other details were immediately released.
“It’s just a rough place sometimes, man. You know, things get out of hand — we just need to love each other,” John said.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released, but family members of an employee at the club told Local 10 they haven’t heard from their relative and they’re looking for him.
Anyone with further information about the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
