NEW YORK (WABC) — A winter storm brought another mixed bag of precipitation to New York City and the Tri-State area on Saturday.
The storm began as snow across the area in the afternoon. By 8:00 p.m., the rain-snow line moved north of New York City.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of the Tri-State into Sunday morning.
We’ll see a lull in the precipitation during the morning hours, but the system cranks up with another round of soaking rain on Sunday afternoon in the city and areas to the south. While temperatures could reach the 50s in New York City, a wintry mix is likely to hang around the far northern and western suburbs.
By Saturday evening, snowfall totals ranged from a half-inch in New York City, 1-1.5 inches on Long Island and in New Jersey, while Lower Hudson Valley and southern Connecticut reported up to 2 inches.
Snowfall Reports So Far:
– Around NYC about 0.5″.
– Long Island closer to 1-1.5″.
– NE NJ around 1″.
– Lower Hudson Valley and S CT about 1-2″.
PROJECTED SNOWFALL TOTALS

The New York City Department of Sanitation issued a Winter Operations Advisory for Saturday, continuing until 6:00 a.m. Sunday. A Winter Operations Advisory is the Department’s “lower level” snow-fighting notification, as opposed to the “higher level” Snow Alert.
Behind the storm, skies clear out for the first half of next week, but it will be much colder with high temperatures below freezing for most of the week and a wicked wind to boot on Monday.
Cold air in place will set the stage for a coastal storm that can bring snow Wednesday night and Thursday.
