Rep. Lauren Boebert Undergoes Successful Surgery to Remove Blood Clot in Leg

Republican U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert from Colorado underwent surgery on Tuesday to address a blood clot in her leg, her campaign announced in a press release. The procedure, which took place in Colorado, aimed to remove the clot and ensure Boebert’s full recovery.

Boebert was admitted to a hospital in northern Colorado on Monday after experiencing severe swelling in her left leg. Subsequent medical examinations revealed an acute blood clot, leading to a diagnosis of May-Thurner Syndrome, a rare disorder affecting women aged 20 to 45, particularly those who have given birth. Boebert’s campaign suggested that factors such as dehydration, travel, and prolonged periods of sitting may have contributed to the condition.

The surgical intervention successfully removed the clot and involved the placement of a stent. Dr. Rebecca Bade, the attending hospitalist, assured that individuals undergoing such procedures typically regain normal blood flow and are able to resume their regular activities. Boebert expressed gratitude to Dr. Bade and the medical team for their care.

Boebert’s campaign manager, Drew Sexton, confirmed that the congresswoman is expected to be discharged from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. Boebert herself shared a photo on Facebook, showing her holding her grandson while resting in a hospital bed.

Despite her recent health setback, Boebert remains committed to her political obligations. She is scheduled to appear at the Republican nominating assembly in Pueblo on Friday, where she aims to secure at least 10% of the delegate vote to advance in the primary election for Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.

Boebert, known for her staunch support of former President Donald Trump and her vocal advocacy for conservative causes, currently represents Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District. However, she is now vying for the Republican nomination in the 4th District following the resignation of former Rep. Ken Buck.

Boebert’s decision to switch districts has sparked controversy, particularly in light of her narrow victory over a Democrat in the 2022 elections. Nevertheless, her national name recognition and support from Trump are expected to bolster her candidacy in the upcoming primary election.

If successful in securing the Republican nomination for the 4th District, Boebert is poised to become a formidable candidate in the general election, where she would likely face a Democrat in the predominantly Republican district.
