Louise Cantillon and her husband Declan Hannon might be newly married, but their living situation is a little ‘unconventional’.
It was ‘young love’ for the couple as they grew up in the same parish in Co Limerick and as the years went on their romance blossomed and now their second wedding anniversary is on the approach.
Home is where the heart lies for Declan, who is a hurler on Limerick’s senior squad, while Louise’s aspirations caused her to venture further afield where she now resides in Dublin.

Though they’re in different counties, provinces, the works, Louise insists that their time spent together is all the more special because of the distance.
Speaking to the Irish Independent, the How To Gael podcaster said: ‘It’s gas- I feel we were more like a married couple before we got married. It’s clearly gone the opposite way. With everything else going on, my weekends are generally full of work, but it does make the time together more special.’

‘He’s great and makes an effort to come up to Dublin once or twice a week if he can,’ she continued. Ah, he’s a good egg!
Declan recently stepped down as captain of the Limerick hurling team, so Louise noted that he has a ‘little bit of freedom’ now to travel up and back from the Big Smoke more regularly.

‘I never thought I’d see the day, but he doesn’t mind Dublin now. He doesn’t love it yet, but he’s not as allergic to it as he was,’ Louise joked.
We’re sure both Louise and Declan have their own ideals, but also are 50-50, about where they see themselves settling in the future; but one thing’s for certain, you can take the girl out of Limerick, but you can’t take Limerick out of the girl!
