This time, she got him.
In 2003, when Adrien Brody won Best Actor for The Piano, he took the stage at the Oscars and laid a very impromptu smooch on an unsuspecting Halle Berry, who presented.
The moment has since become iconic and much discussed, especially in the MeToo era.
Berry explained how it felt to her in a 2017 appearance on Watch What Happens Live.
“That was not planned. I knew nothing about it,” said Berry. “I was like, ‘What the f*ck’s happening right now?’ That is what was going through my mind. And because I was there the year before and I know the feeling of being out of your body, I just f*cking went with it. “But I was like, ‘What the f— is going on right now?”
Tonight, on the Oscars red carpet, Berry turned the tables on Brody, who is again nominated for Best Actor. As Brody was being interviewed by Access Hollywood, Berry approached and said to Brody’s girlfriend Georgina Chapman, “I’m sorry Georgina, I gotta do this.”

Berry then grabbed Brody and gave him a long kiss on the lips.
“I’m sorry. I had to do that,” Berry told Chapman afterwards. The two women then embraced and Berry gave her a smooch on the cheek.

Earlier this year Brody revisited the 2003 kiss, post MeToo, with Deadline’s sister publication Variety, saying, “We live in a very conscious time, which is a wonderful thing. And nothing that I ever do or have done or would’ve done is ever done with the intention of making anyone feel bad.”
