(BCN) — Fairfield police detectives are investigating a death that occurred Saturday in what police described as the first homicide in Fairfield this year. Around 7:16 a.m. Saturday, police dispatchers received a call regarding a person lying on the road near the 2300 block of El Rancho Way.
Upon arriving at the scene, patrol officers located a dead man who appeared to have been shot, according to police. Detectives responded and took over the investigation, police said.

According to police, notification of the family of the man who died is pending.
Police noted that in 2024, Fairfield saw two homicides, both of which were solved.
