DALLAS — Whether you’re stocking up on spring asparagus or hunting for handmade treasures, April is an ideal month to explore North Texas’ vibrant farmers markets.
Springtime is the perfect weather to stroll through the markets, meet your local farmers and bring home some artisanal goods.
Here are the top eight farmers’ markets you won’t want to miss in DFW this month:
1. Dallas Farmers Market
Located in Downtown Dallas, this historic market is a year-round favorite. During April, you’ll find an array of Texas-grown fruits, vegetables, meats and specialty products like honey and wine. Don’t miss The Shed open-air pavilion, where you can find even more local vendors, live demonstrations and Little Farmers activities for kids. Keep in mind The Shed is only open on the weekends.
2. Cowtown Farmers Market (Fort Worth)
Open year-round, this iconic market in White Settlement offers everything from organic produce to local meats and cheeses. All the vendors provide goods grown within 150 miles of the market. You can also find rare plants, pasture-raised meats and seasonal flowers.
3. McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square
Held at Historic Chestnut Square, this market showcases dozens of vendors selling fresh produce, meats, coffee and unique crafts. April visitors can look forward to seasonal items like asparagus, strawberries and early summer squash.
4. Arlington Farmers Market
A small, community-focused market in Arlington, it’s the perfect place to find fresh, locally grown produce, flowers and homemade goods. The market provides a great mix of vendors serving the community with market staples, including produce, meat, honey, tamales and jam. The market is held every Saturday in the parking lot at the corner of Front and Center Streets just west of the Rotary Dream Park on Front Street.
5. Flower Mound Farmers Market
Flower Mound’s market offers a unique selection of organic products, fresh flowers, handmade soap, seasonings and handmade jewelry. As the weather warms, it’s a great place to gather fresh spring ingredients. Visitors can also indulge in savory sweets such as pastries, pie and cookies.
6. Denton Community Market
It’s more than a market! This nonprofit hub near Downtown Denton features live music, food trucks and more than 100 vendors. Browse organic juices, handmade dog treats and farm-fresh eggs every Saturday on the grounds of the Denton County Historical Park.
7. Coppell Farmers Market
It’s been a Saturday morning staple since the early 2000s. The food-focused market in Old Town Coppell hosts more than 50 vendors offering everything from organic vegetables to small-batch hot sauces. Be sure to arrive early for the best selection!
8. Cedar Market Ranch (Dallas)
A newcomer gaining regional attention, this family-owned market in the Cedars neighborhood sources directly from Texas growers. The market is praised for its affordability and diverse seasonal selections.
