It’s the kind of weather to make you forget what city you’re in.
Seattle has seen over a week of unusually abundant sunshine, mostly clear skies and bracingly cold temperatures. Except for a light sprinkling of precipitation going into Friday morning, residents can expect to see our sunny, frigid streak continue for almost another week.
The National Weather Service projects that the region shouldn’t expect to see rain again until the middle of next week. According to NWS projections, 2025 is slated to end up as one of the top 10 driest years on record in Seattle.

The King County Regional Homelessness Authority extended the activation of its tier 3 severe weather protocol — its highest-level response to cold weather conditions — through Tuesday.
The agency is opening emergency daytime and overnight warming centers and working with transit organizations to help people get to shelter sites.
Friday also marks our region’s final pre-5 p.m. sunset this winter.
As the days stretch out and the sun keeps us company for longer, the coming week might be an opportune time to chase a sublime sunset. Grab a thermos and head to the city’s westernmost edges to watch the sun make its gentle descent into the horizon.
