The Calgary Stampede’s annual canvas auction returns Thursday evening at The Big Four Roadhouse, giving companies and organizations the opportunity to advertise on a chuckwagon canvas during the 2025 Rangeland Derby

The auction is widely viewed as a gauge of Calgary’s economic climate. It draws interest for which drivers fetch the highest bids and how overall totals compare to previous years.

The 2024 tarp auction brought in $3.115 million in total bids across 27 drivers, with chuckwagon driver Kris Molle taking the top bid of $210,000 from Graf Mechanical Ltd.

Each of the 27 drivers invited to compete at the 2025 Stampede will take the stage as bidding unfolds.

The live auction is set to run from 6:45 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.
