In response to a question, Poilievre said a Conservative government would not expand medical assistance in dying beyond the existing parameters. He has previously said there would be no MAID expansion for mental illness if he won. But people will “continue to have the right to make that choice for themselves” when it comes to the current guidelines for MAID.

Poilievre also sent a message to Canada’s Jewish community, saying a Conservative government would get tougher on people who carry out violent attacks based on ethnicity and religion, including deportations for “anyone who carries out antisemitic vandalism or property damage” and is on a visitor visa.
