Spotify has experienced a service outage that’s left users around the world unable to stream music.
Outages detected on the Downdetector website, which tracks social apps for problems, were first noted around 1pm UK local time (5am PT).
Thousands of users in the U.S., UK and Europe have reported they have no service, suggesting a global outage.
Only audio already downloaded to a library is accessible, with no downloading or streaming currently possible.
Spotify has posted on social media acknowledging the problem, writing: “We’re aware of issues affecting the Spotify app and website loading. The right team is on it and working on a fix.”
Downdetector’s monitoring suggests the outage hit its peak at around 5.45am PT, with more than 20,000 reporting issues at that point. It was down to less than 10,000 reports by 7am PT.
