PRODUCT Safety Information Notices have been issued for two household appliances from the same brand over risks of burns and fire.
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) issued an urgent alert to thousands of shoppers on Tuesday, April 15.

The first is a Heat Pump System.
A safety issue was identified with the Chewbay Ltd T/A Joule Ireland ModulAir Heat Pump System.
Joule Ireland has identified situations where electrical components in the heat pumps overheats, melts and breaks down.
As a result, it may generate smoke and fumes.
It presents a risk of burns or fire to the public if contact is made with the flammable materials inside the unit.
The brand is ModulAir by Joule, while the product number is HHH-AEHP-00001.
It is believed that there are approximately 4,000 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.
If you have the unit and smell smoke or fumes coming from it, you are urged to isolate it using the local isolater – examples of which are shown in the picture above.
You should turn the isolator switch to the “off” position, and contact Joule before turning the unit back on.
The company can be contacted by calling 01 5392427.
Joule Ireland has contacted customers to arrange for an engineer to visit their homes to carry out remedial works.
If you have not yet been contacted by Joule Ireland, or have further queries then you should contact Joule Ireland at 01 5392427 or modulair@joule.ie.
In communications you should reference ModulAir Upgrade.
The other project under a Safety Notice is a Cold Water Storage Tank.
A safety issue has been identified in the control box of the Proboost Cold Water Storage Tank from Chewbay Ltd T/A Joule Ireland.
PRODUCT RISKS
There is a risk of the capacitor component within the control box overheating.
This may result in damage to the part along with the control box.
This could then generate smoke and fumes.
It also presents a risk of fire and burns if flammable materials are stored near the unit.
The brand is Proboost by Joule and the product numbers are OPB-0340-00SVS and OPB-0540-00SVS.
There are believed to be approximately 647 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.
