ALLEN, Texas — An officer-involved shooting left a suspect wounded Saturday morning in Allen after he pulled out a gun during a traffic stop, police said.
According to a news release from the Allen Police Department, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a car for no rear license plate around 10:48 a.m.
Police said during the stop, the suspect made “sudden” movement and pulled out a long gun from inside the car, while saying aggressive things towards the officer.
In response, police said the officer went to the back of the suspect’s car and fired his weapon four times. Police said the suspect, identified as Rick Reamy, 33, then fled the scene in the car.
According to the news release, Allen police began a pursuit, which carried over into the City of Plano. With Plano officers’ help, they were able to deploy stop sticks, which punctured multiple holes in Reamy’s tires.
Once Reamy’s car came to a stop in a parking lot near the intersection of Park Boulevard and Coit Road, police said officers were able to take the suspect into custody without further incident.
During a search of the car, officers found multiple firearms, according to police.
Allen PD said that officers treated Reamy’s injuries until the Plano Fire Department arrived and took him to a medical facility to treat a non-life-threatening bullet wound.
According to police, Reamy was booked into the Allen Detention Center for aggravated assault on a Peace Officer, evading arrest or detention and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. His bond has not been set.
Allen PD said the Texas Rangers are leading this investigation.
