DALLAS — With the 76th overall pick, the Dallas Cowboys selected Shavon Revel Jr., a defensive back out of East Carolina.
This marked the 12th pick in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Revel Jr. is coming off a torn ACL that he suffered in September of 2024. He had surgery to repair the injury by Cowboys’ Dr. Dan Cooper.
Going back to the start of the 2023 season, Revel Jr. had 11 pass breakups and two defensive touchdowns. He is a long, athletic corner with good route recognition and was widely regarded as one of the best defensive backs in the American Athletic Conference. Had he not been injured in 2024, he projected as a much higher draft pick, potentially going in the first round.
So, the Cowboys get a player that could’ve been a much higher draft pick if not for the ACL injury, and they fill a much-needed position on the defensive side of the ball.
If he, Trevon Diggs and Daron Bland are all healthy, that gives the Cowboys a very strong defensive back unit.
