DALLAS — A Dallas Independent School District high school was briefly evacuated Friday morning “due to a concern,” officials said.
Dallas ISD said David W. Carter High School in the 1800 block of W. Wheatland Road was evacuated as a precaution, but didn’t provide more details about what prompted the evacuation.
Students and parents at the high school who spoke with WFAA were also unsure what exactly prompted the evacuation. One parent told WFAA she had been waiting outside the school for nearly three hours before she got her son.
Students were being let back into the campus by shortly after noon. A student who spoke with WFAA estimated that they were outside a nearby church for at least two hours before they were let back in the school.
Dallas ISD said all on campus are safe. Dallas police were called to help with traffic control.
