Canadians head to the polls Monday to cast their votes in what has been called the most important election in a lifetime.
Five weeks of campaigning draw to a close, as the Mark Carney-led Liberals look to retain the seat of government, hoping to move from a minority to a majority.
The campaign has largely been a two-party race, with Pierre Poilievre and the Conservatives hoping to unseat a party that was seen as recent as March as wildly unpopular.

Polls have tightened with the election of Carney as Liberal leader, and as Canadians are concerned about the threats posed by U.S. President Donald Trump.
In Alberta, the Conservatives look to maintain a strong majority of seats, though some Liberal and NDP candidates hope to make inroads in Edmonton and Calgary.
Polls close first in Newfoundland at 5 p.m. Alberta time, with polls in Atlantic time provinces closing a half hour later. Polls in Eastern, Central and Mountain time zones all close at 7:30 Alberta time, with B.C. following a half hour after that.
