Riverside South-Findlay Creek Coun. Steve Desroches makes a very good point about children’s sports in parks and potentially abusive parents. I have also seen abusive parents in minor sports, so adding drinking to the mix is probably not a good idea.
Perhaps, as a compromise, drinking should not be allowed during children’s sporting events in parks?
For some families without backyards, it might be nice to have a picnic in the park and responsibly enjoy a glass of wine or beer with their meal. That may not be a bad idea.

REACTIONARY ROYALIST REJECTS REALITY
Re: Mixed reviews for King letters, letter to the editor, June 7
Hey, letters reviewer, you are not a proud Canadian. You remain a proud Brit stuck on Canadian soil. People in other countries liked seeing King Charles in Canada because it meant he was not treading on their turf. Now we are getting brother Eddy for Canada Day. We will only be “sovereign” when we shake off both the U.K. and U.S. yokes.

So, you go back to the U.K. and rapturously genuflect before your archaic Chuck and his ex-mistress missus, plus their entitled appendages. The monarchy was part of Canada’s past. And there it stays. Canada’s future must do better. Your hierarchical class system foot-kissing doesn’t cut it in the 21st century.

NO PHOTO-OP FOR POOR GRETA
Re: Greta Thunberg deported from Israel, eight activists refuse, online, June 10
Ahh, poor wee Greta and her flotilla of Hamas supporters. Does Israel not understand the magnitude of denying her the ability to make a photogenic appearance of once again saving the world?
Such grand delusion is what drives the blind obsession of knowing better than the rest of the world. Sounds a bit like our former prime minister.
Greta wraps herself up in the enemy’s colours and screams in front of the camera, then wonders why she is being denied entry.
