President Donald Trump said he will undergo what he called a “semiannual physical” at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Friday — about six months after his last physical exam.
“I’m meeting with the troops, and I’m also going to do a, sort of semiannual physical, which I do,” Trump told reporters during remarks in the Oval Office on Thursday.
Trump last had a physical exam in April, also at Walter Reed.

In a statement on Wednesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Trump would visit Walter Reed, just outside Washington, D.C., in Bethesda, Maryland, “for a planned meeting and remarks with the troops” and while there he would “stop by for his routine yearly checkup.”
Speaking Thursday, Trump said he felt he was in great shape.
“I like to check, always early, always be early,” Trump said. “It’s a lesson for a lot of people.”
He added, “I think I’m in great shape, but I’ll let you know. … Physically, I feel very good. Mentally, I feel very good.”
After his last physical in the spring, Trump boasted about his performance on a cognitive test, saying he “got every answer right.”
Over the summer, the White House said Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, after he was seen with deep bruises on his hand and swollen legs.
Chronic venous insufficiency, which is not considered a serious medical condition, is very common in older adults. Treatment typically can include medication to increase blood flow, elevating legs, or minor procedures to improve blood flow, or surgery in more severe cases.
