Man in his 20s and teen dead in double-shooting in Brampton

Two people are dead following a late-night shooting in Brampton.

Police in Peel Region were called to the Rutherford Road and Weybridge Trail area, north of Williams Parkway, just before 10:30 p.m. Friday.

“There was a group of individuals who were at the school, some type of altercation occurred, a firearm or firearms were discharged, and two people were shot,” Cst. Laurie McCann said in an update on Saturday morning.

One of the victims was located at the basketball courts behind St. Joachim Elementary School on Rutherford Road North, while the second victim was found on the front driveway of a home on Weybridge Trail.

A man in his 20s and a teenager were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the suspect(s) fled the scene before they arrived, but it’s uncertain if they escaped on foot or in a car. There was no immediate suspect description provided.
