Actor Danny Masterson Transferred to California Men’s Colony Prison:
Actor Danny Masterson, known for his role in “That ’70s Show,” has been relocated from Corcoran State Prison to California Men’s Colony, a medium and minimum-security facility in San Luis Obispo. The transfer occurred on Feb. 16, confirmed by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Masterson, 47, was sentenced last year to 30 years to life in prison for two counts of rape with force, violence, or fear of bodily injury, dating back to incidents in 2003 at his Hollywood-area home.
The move follows a denial of bail pending his appeal, with the judge noting the severity of his sentence and the likelihood of decades or life in custody. Masterson’s previous prison, Corcoran State Prison, housed infamous cult leader Charles Manson and is designated for violent offenders.
California Men’s Colony, where Masterson is now housed, emphasizes rehabilitative resources to aid inmates in rejoining society as productive citizens. Concerns for Masterson’s well-being reportedly prompted the transfer, though specific reasons were not disclosed by CDCR, citing legal restrictions.
Masterson’s case garnered attention when co-stars Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis penned letters of support during his trial. Both praised Masterson’s character and described him as a supportive figure. However, the severity of the charges and the outcome of his trial led to his incarceration.
Masterson’s eligibility for parole is set for July 2042, with the actor being 66 years old at that time. His move to California Men’s Colony signals a shift in his confinement environment, potentially impacting his day-to-day life and access to programs aimed at rehabilitation.
The actor’s legal saga and subsequent imprisonment serve as a reminder of the accountability individuals face for past actions, even those in the public eye. As Masterson adjusts to his new surroundings, the echoes of his past continue to reverberate, shaping his present reality within the confines of the justice system.
