Wiarton Willie, the famous Ontario rodent who fictitiously predicted the arrival of spring, has died. The Town of South Bruce Peninsula says in a statement that Willie died peacefully while sleeping. The town says Willie carried on the Groundhog Day tradition and celebrations in Wiarton that attracted thousands of people every year. LOS ANGELES (AP) — A Florida woman accused of firing gunshots at Rihanna’s home in Los Angeles was charged Tuesday with one count of attempted murder and other felony offenses including 10 counts of assault on a person with a semiautomatic firearm. Public health officials in Toronto say two travel-related cases of another type of mpox have been confirmed for the first time in the city and the province. Toronto Public Health says the variant known as clade Ib has been associated with mpox outbreaks in parts of Central and Eastern Africa and was found in a small number of travel-related cases in Europe and elsewhere. Jeffrey Northup, Toronto police have received the findings of an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) review conducted as a result of “adverse comments” made by the Superior Court justice during the trial. The parent company of Loblaws and Shoppers Drug Mart says it determined that a criminal third-party accessed some customer information such as names, phone numbers and email addresses after it identified suspicious activity on a contained, non-critical part of its IT network.
