OTTAWA — The federal government is “very seriously” considering introducing a social media ban for kids, Culture Minister Marc Miller said Wednesday, days after party members voted in favour of a such a ban at the Liberal party convention. “I respect and acknowledge the work that’s been done and the concern where that policy proposal came from,” Miller told reporters on Parliament Hill. “The grassroots have spoken. A youth is in stable condition after being stabbed in Pickering early Wednesday. Durham police say officers were called around mid‑morning to the area of Liverpool Road and Finch Avenue, where they found a young victim suffering from a stab wound. Three men are facing more than 70 charges in connection with a number of automobile thefts at three GO station parking lots. Toronto police say the three were observed going into the Eglinton GO station parking lot around 10 a.m. on March 16 and that two of them allegedly broke into a locked vehicle. “The accused attempted to use an automotive key-programming device to create a new key in order to steal the vehicle,” police said in a release. The City of Mississauga and Ridgeway Plaza have reached a new security framework aimed at reducing nuisance gatherings at the plaza. Under the agreement, the condominium corporation that oversees the plaza has agreed to install security cameras, speed bumps and permanent gate access at the location while also providing increased security on evenings when large celebrations are expected. EDMONTON — Tourists, truckers and others travellers could soon be greeted by new Welcome to Alberta signs when they cross into the province. Dozens of Alberta-raised bison calves sent to Alaska as part of a relocation agreement with the state made it safely to their new home, but it wasn’t without months of logistical work and a 40-hour trip on treacherous northern roads.
