A man has been seriously injured after crashing while on a scooter in Brampton. Peel police were called to Vodden Street East and Garfield Crescent for a single vehicle collision involving a scooter around 9:45 a.m. Thursday. An inquest into the death of Regis Korchinski-Paquet, who died in Toronto in May 2020, has been announced by the Coroner’s Office. Korchinski-Paquet, who is Black and Indigenous, fell from her balcony while police were in her high-rise apartment on May 27, 2020. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) later found there were no grounds to charge any of the officers involved. Ontario Provincial Police in Caledon have made two arrests in connection with a home invasion in the town last month. Officers responded to reports of a robbery at a home in the area of Mount Hope Road and Old Church Road shortly before 2:00 a.m. on March 17. A 14-year-old is facing charges after the Tamil Genocide Memorial at Chinguacousy Park was vandalized last month. Police in Peel Region say they were called to the park on March 20 and discovered the memorial had been defaced with derogatory spray-painted messages.
