After placing eight school boards in Ontario under provincial supervision in 2025, the Province is introducing more changes to the way school boards are run in an attempt to “strengthen school board oversight and accountability and ensure more consistent learning experiences for students,” according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Education on Monday. The Toronto Blue Jays acquired infielder Lenyn Sosa from the Chicago White Sox on Monday, the team announced. The Blue Jays are sending minor-leaguer Jordan Rich and a player to be named later to Chicago. Starting pitcher Shane Bieber was transferred to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. Treliving, fired a couple of weeks ago as general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, will join Pittsburgh Penguins assistant general manager Jason Spezza as part of the management team of Team Canada at the upcoming world championships, Hockey Canada announced Monday. A Canadian man who lived in Windsor, Ont., was killed last week by Israeli forces outside the family’s home in southern Lebanon, his family says. Mohamad Hussain Haidar says his 38-year-old brother Hassan Haidar went to Lebanon in November to be with his wife and five children and care for the horses he raised on family property. A driver has been taken to hospital after a collision between a motorcycle and vehicle in Scarborough Monday afternoon. Toronto police were called to Ellesmere Road and Dolly Varden Boulevard just after 3:10 p.m. to reports of a crash. One driver was transported to hospital with serious injuries. TORONTO — The Public Health Agency of Canada says its investigation into a salmonella outbreak linked to pistachios is still active one year since recording the first infection. An update Monday by the agency shows people are still getting sick with illnesses reported as recently as last month. It says 26 people have been hospitalized, and the number of illnesses is up to 189 since March 2025.
