OTTAWA — The Bank of Canada is filling two vacancies on its governing council with a pair of economists who are already well known at the central bank. In May, the Bank of Canada’s managing director of economic analysis, Marc-André Gosselin, will become a deputy governor at the central bank, where he has worked in progressively senior roles since 1999. Durham Regional Police have arrested four people in connection with an armed robbery that took place in Oshawa on Saturday. Police responded to a call around 6:30 a.m. for an armed person in the area of Stevenson Road North and Rossland Road West. Police say a person was visiting a friend in the area when he was confronted outside the home by two suspects. They allegedly assaulted the person, stole his cash and threatened him with a firearm before entering the home. The victim did not suffer any physical injuries. An armed man standing atop one of the historic Teotihuacan pyramids opened fire Monday, leaving one Canadian tourist dead and another among the injured at the archeological site an hour north of Mexico’s capital, authorities said. Peel police are searching for a male suspect wanted in connection to a Brampton sexual assault. Investigators say on April 11 at around 9:30 p.m, a woman was in a green space near Airport Road and Bovaird Drive. The male suspect approached her from behind and allegedly sexually assaulted her. The victim was able to escape and contacted police. The suspect is described as a South Asian, six feet tall and around 30 years old with short facial hair and a medium build. Police in Durham Region say they’ve arrested a man who allegedly tried to watch a 12-year-old boy shower at a recreation centre in Newcastle. Officers were called to the Dianne Harme Recreation Centre located at 1780 Rudell Road on Thursday, April 9. Police say the boy was at the rec centre between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. and while he was showering a man pulled open the privacy curtain. CALGARY — WestJet says it is cutting flight capacity as the war in Iran causes the price of jet fuel to soar. The Calgary-based airline said it has reduced capacity by about one per cent in April, three per cent in May and nearly six per cent in June. A baby has died after being found inside a vehicle in Leslieville without vital signs Monday afternoon.
