(KRON) – The National Weather Service has extended the wind advisory for the East Bay Hills and the North Bay interior mountains until 1 a.m. on Tuesday.  North winds are projected to be 20 to 30 mph with gusts up from 35 to 50 mph, according to the weather service. MOSS LANDING, Calif. (KRON) — One of the world’s biggest battery plants is located in a tiny harbor town perched halfway between Santa Cruz and Monterey. A fire ignited January 16 inside the Moss Landing Power Plant where thousands of lithium batteries store power from renewable energy. Officers were dispatched at 7:15 a.m. to a pedestrian hit and run at the intersection of Amphitheater Parkway and Joaquin Road. (KRON) — A driver was arrested for DUI after crashing his car into a tree overnight early Monday morning, the San Rafael Police Department said on social media. The crash happened just after midnight on Locust Avenue near Dominican University. The driver, who was the only occupant of the vehicle, suffered minor injuries, according to SRPD. (KRON) — An 8-year-old boy was swept into the ocean near Half Moon Bay while big waves pounded the shoreline on Sunday afternoon, officials said. A Cal Fire battalion chief said the boy was swept in at Cowell Ranch State Beach and an adult tried to save him. When state park lifeguards arrived at 3:13 p.m. Sunday, they found the 39-year-old man and the young boy still in the water, parks officials said. (KRON) — A woman escaped from suffering serious injuries, “or worse,” when she darted out of her car moments before it was struck by a train in Oakley, police said. Leading up to the collision, the woman noticed that her car was having mechanical problems around 5:30 p.m. Sunday, and she drove off the road, police said.
