A female pedestrian has suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Pickering. Durham police say they were called to Brock Road and Dellbrook Avenue around 1:25 p.m. on Tuesday. It was reported that a Nissan SUV was travelling northbound on Brock when the vehicle collided with a female pedestrian in the roadway. The pedestrian was rushed to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. The driver remained on the scene and was not injured. A driver was airlifted to the hospital following a single-vehicle crash on Highway 407 in Whitby on Wednesday. Ontario high school students will soon need to pass a financial literacy test in order to graduate. Education Minister Paul Calandra says students need practical, real-world skills, including how to manage money and budgets. Updated curriculum requirements for financial literacy were set to take effect at the beginning of this school year, but Calandra paused that and a few other curriculum updates in June to give teachers more time for implementation. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the 14-year-old girl singer D4vd is charged with killing, died from penetrating wounds to her upper body, according to an autopsy report released Wednesday. A building developer accused of illegally cutting down trees across Toronto has had another allegation made against them. Lawyers for a MiWay bus driver argued in court Wednesday that she attempted to apply the brakes several times before a multi-vehicle crash that claimed the life of one person and injured eight others three years ago. The province released an interim report following the 2025 wildfire season, one of the worst in decades.
