Dear Vicki: A former supplier is bad-mouthing my company throughout the interiors sector. How should I respond?

Q I own an interiors shop in the south-west and work with many suppliers, some of them for decades. Before Christmas, I made the tough decision to end a long-standing relationship with one supplier due to ongoing service issues that were damaging our reputation. We gave them every chance to improve, but they just didn’t deliver.
