DALLAS, Texas — The family of Alice Fisher, 57, is mourning her tragic death after she was killed in a hail of bullets in her apartment Wednesday night

Fisher’s relatives gathered Friday to pack up her belongings, a process they described as painful and surreal.

“This is just shocking,” said a family member who only wanted to be identified as Yolanda. “It’s just hurtful.”

Fisher was sitting in her recliner when men in ski masks broke into her apartment and opened fire, according to her family.

“It hurts. It really hurts,” said Shelton Dale, Fisher’s cousin.

The Dallas Police Department hasn’t released any information about suspects or a motive, but Fisher’s family believes the group of men were intending to harm someone else and got the wrong apartment.

Fisher is disabled, gets around in a wheelchair, and just returned home after a hospital stay per family. They’re now raising money for a funeral. Donations are being accepted here.

Evidence collected at the scene, per Fisher’s family, includes video footage showing the masked men approaching Fisher’s apartment. Bullet holes were found throughout the unit via videos given to WFAA by Fisher’s family.

“It’s scary because you can be here enjoying your life, and guys out here, thugs out here, are just senseless people, evil. No hearts,” said Fisher’s niece, Koquice Fisher. “They just want to do something to get a name or do something for the wrong reason.”

Family members described Alice as a loving woman who didn’t deserve such violence—someone who was kind, with a quiet demeanor, who loved laughter.

“You shouldn’t feel like you’re the man,” her niece said. “You came and killed an innocent, disabled woman who did no harm. She took nothing from you guys.”

“They did her wrong, man,” said Dale. “But God is going to take care of everything. What you do in the dark comes to the light.”

The shooting occurred at Kingbridge Crossing, a Dallas Housing Authority property, where security concerns have been raised. According to the family, the suspects drove through unsecured gates before entering the apartment. WFAA noticed that issue while meeting them Friday afternoon.

“We’re trying to stay strong, help each other out, and just cherish her memories,” Koquice added.
