“Himachal Pradesh: Addiction Leads to 34 Youths Testing HIV Positive, Revelation in Health Department’s Investigation

In the investigation conducted by the police and the health department, it has come to light that in the Nurpur area, most of the youths involved in these cases were consuming drugs with the same syringe. During the anti-drug campaign by the police in Kangra district, several diseases were revealed in the medical examination of drug users.

34 youths from the Nurpur area have tested HIV positive. The investigation has revealed that most of the victims had been consuming drugs with the same syringe. The youths affected are in the age group of 25 to 30. The rising drug trade in the Nurpur area has not only led the youths to addiction but also made them HIV positive. The police and the health department’s investigation has revealed that most of the youths involved in these cases in the Nurpur area were consuming drugs with the same syringe. This has led to the HIV virus found in one person transmitting to other youths through the shared use of the syringe.

The surprising aspect is that the HIV positive cases were found among those youths whose addiction condition was identified during health check-ups. It is feared that there may be many more youths in the area who, due to lack of testing, are wandering around infected with HIV.
