The Humane Society of Broward County is hoping to find a forever home for Joy, a 2-year-old lab-bully mix described as sweet but timid.
Cherie Wachter, a spokesperson for the shelter, introduced Joy during Saturday’s Adopt a Pet segment, noting that she is part of a newly coined group of black-and-white bully breeds dubbed “tuxables.”
These dogs, Wachter said, are often overlooked at shelters.
“She is a sweet girl, just a little shy in front of the camera,” Wachter said. “But she loves snuggles and belly rubs and would do well in a home that can give her some TLC.”
The Humane Society’s “Adopt a Sweetheart” campaign continues through the weekend, with reduced adoption fees for pets a year or older. Select dogs and cats, including Joy, have their adoption fees covered entirely.
Last weekend’s featured dog, Love, was adopted by a Local 10 viewer from Pembroke Pines.
HSBC is also seeking a home for Gigi, a 4-year-old dog who has been at the facility since before Halloween.
