EXCLUSIVE: The Osbournes is well remembered for its chaotic early reality TV vibes, and the iconic series is now headed down a new path.
Banijay Rights has teamed with the family to launch The Osbournes FAST channel, which marks the first time the series has been made available on a free ad-supported streaming service.
The channel launches this month on Rakuten TV, LG Channels, Xumo Play, TCL, VIZIO, Plex, Anoki, Sling Freestream and VIDAA across the U.S., UK and Canada, and we another major carriage deal is imminent.
Offered up by the channel is all seasons of The Osbournes reality series, which broadcasted in the U.S. on MTV, where it became the network’s highest-rating program in history and acted as a blueprint for several similar reality series over the years.
Watch on Deadline
The Emmy-winning series follows the quirky domestic lives of rock star Ozzy Osbourne, his wife Sharon and their children Jack and Kelly, along with their dogs.
Also set for the FAST channel is The Basement Tapes, a fly-on-the-wall series that began rolling out on YouTube last year. It sees comedian Amy Miller join the family as they rewatch all episodes from the original series, taking a comedic and reflective look back at the past.
“The Osbournes are not only one of the world’s most influential families, but their series is one of the most important reality series of all time – providing some of the most outrageous and entertaining TV moments of the last few decades,” said Shaun Keeble, VP of Digital at Banijay Rights. “To leverage this show’s catalogue and launch the family to the FAST stratosphere is an exciting moment for us at Banijay Rights. We are sure new audiences will enjoy discovering this iconic family while fans of the original series will enjoy reliving their incredible television moments.”
Banijay Rights has previously launched FAST channels for Mr Bean‘s animated and live-action shows, which are now published in 34 territories and ten platforms.
