‘ROTTEN’ WEATHER AHEAD

Customers to various airports have been strongly advised to check their flight status before heading to the terminals.

They can do by visiting the airport’s, or their flight provider’s, app.

The cancellations come as the country is bracing for a “rotten Sunday” with wind, rain, local flooding, hail and thunderstorms.

Alan O’Reilly from Carlow Weather said the rain will clear slowly this afternoon and the wind will ease in the west by lunchtime and in the east by afternoon.

He added: “A good day ahead tomorrow before a rough Sunday.

“Over 40mm of rain possible on high ground in Southwest Sunday with very heavy rain moving in from West Saturday night.

“Falling on saturated ground there is a risk of some local flooding.

“Very strong winds at same too will make for a rotten Sunday morning.”
