Ross Byrne and his wife India Healy O’Connor are still enjoying newlywed bliss having tied the knot in August and now they’re set for a big 2025.
Just as they’re settling into the new routine of married life, a major move is on the horizon for the couple as Ross has signed to play for Gloucester rugby.
Confirming the news on Friday, India reposted a video shared by her husband’s new team in which he says he can’t wait to put on the famous cherry and red jersey.

‘It’s an honour to say I’ll be pulling on the famous cherry and white jersey next season, Kingsholm [Stadium] is a very special place to play,’ Ross said in the video message.
He added: ‘The team is playing some amazing rugby at the moment so I’m looking forward to linking up with them later this year. See you all in the summer.’
Rather fittingly, the video started with somebody making a cup of coffee behind a bar with Guinness prominent in the clip, hinting that the signing was Irish.
India shared the video to her own socials, writing ‘Byrne Baby Byrne’ alongside a string of cherry emojis in a nod to the new club.
Reports that Ross was set for a move emerged earlier in the week when the Daily Mail reported that Gloucester had their sights set on the Leinster and Ireland fly-half.

Ross has 22 caps and 56 points for Ireland under his belt but has unfortunately fallen down the pecking order for the Irish squad.
His last appearance for Ireland came against England in a World Cup warm-up game in August 2023, and he has been playing solely for his province since.

Gloucester’s interest in Ross comes as no surprise as he has previously attracted attention from Leicester and French side Montpellier.
It’s not fully clear if India and Ross will move across the pond full-time once he’s playing for Gloucester and it may be unlikely as they’re currently renovating their dream home in South Dublin.

The New York townhouse-style home was curated with the help of India’s interior guru mum, Fiona Healy, who often shares her passion for home decor under the Instagram handle- Plain_Irish.
We can’t wait to see the finished result!
