It may be called Millcreek Common, but the second phase of the growing suburb’s new plaza will bring some unique amenities.
Millcreek city leaders officially broke ground last month on the second phase of Millcreek Common, the city center located off 1300 East and 3300 South.
It’s already home to a skating rink, the largest outdoor climbing wall in Utah and an upgraded city hall, which includes a coffee shop and restaurant on the first floor.
Now, even more is coming: A 19-hole mini-golf course, a skate park, a moose-themed playground, a ‘splash creek’ water feature and hundreds more trees, according to a news release from the city. Construction is scheduled to wrap up by the end of 2026.

The city’s mayor, Jeff Silvestrini, is most excited to have more shaded space under the large trees. And he’s looking forward to the area becoming a center of “creative play” for children.
Millcreek Common is also getting new neighbors: A new apartment complex, named The Westerly, is under construction next to Millcreek City Hall. Two other new complexes, The Richmond and Cottonwood Highland, have also opened a few streets down from the city center.
“There are going to be a lot more people living down here, so I expect it’ll be even more well-used than what we’ve got already,” Silvestrini said. “The diversity of the amenities that we will have will bring even more people in to make this be the gathering spot for Millcreek that we are hoping that it will be.”
Millcreek Pizza House, Millcreek Coffee Roasters, Noodlehead and Normal Ice Cream already offer food and drinks to visitors at the city center.
This next phase will bring even more vendors, Silvestrini said.

It’s too early to tell what will join them in the Common’s retail spaces, but Silvestrini said a gelato store and a toy store have been floated as options.
There’s also prime vacancy for a restaurant at the corner of 3300 South, which would allow patio dining on Millcreek Common as well. Nothing’s confirmed yet, but Silvestrini hinted that a local eatery that already has a location in the 9th and 9th neighborhood could be in the cards.
Without revealing its name, he said he felt it would be “really popular” among residents.
“Millcreek hit this out of the park — or I think a better analogy is, they hit a hole-in-one!” Salt Lake County Mayor Jenny Wilson said in a news release. “If you are a Millcreek resident or will soon be, you have this amenity, which is incredible.”
